What I eat in a day #4

So this is my last post before departure tomorrow and I decided to write this kind of post, because I don’t know how the situation with food will look like in France (of course I’ll be still on vegan diet) and if I could take photos of my food as frequently as I do it now at home :) Anyway, let’s see what I ate today!

I know it can be boring, but it’s fourth time I’m writing a post like this and I ate again pancakes for breakfast :D But this time they were with cacao, so they tasted like little brownies :) Btw, they’re banana coins between all the pancakes :)

So for lunch I made myself veggie wraps with romain lettuce, baked sweet potato, sweet corn, beans zucchini, capsicum and hummus I added later :)

That was the first time since a long long time when I’ve not been hungry after workout and I ate (only!) 1/4 of a big watermelon. I planned to eat more, because I don’t know when I’ll have the possibility to eat it again, but I just simply wasn’t hungry and I didn’t want to force my body to eat more than it needed :)

I also drank 3,5l through the day, because it’s really hot in Poland now and I need to stay hydrated :)

Wish you all an amazing day/night and I hope I’ll be able to write some new post for you in next few days, but unfortunately I can’t promise anything.

VEGAN SERIES #9: Vegan grocery shopping and my staple foods

In today’s post I want to tell you about things I normally buy on the grocery shopping and what I think you NEED to have in your fridge or cupboard every day.

  1. Bananas [Do I have to tell you more? If you’re interested in vegan diet or you eat this way, you know that bananas are life :)]
  2. Oats [Best breakfast for me=oatmeal, also you can use them to prepare for example vegan pancakes (recipe is on my blog)]
  3. Rice [because who doesn’t love rice and veggies for lunch or dinner]
  4. Potatoes [mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, potato fries…]
  5. Veggies from cans [my favourite are: sweet corn, chickpeas and beans]
  6. Plant-based mylk [soy, rice, oat, coconut..anything you want, because it’s great to prepare an oatmeal, pancakes or chia pudding]
  7. Chia seeds [great source of healthy fats]
  8. Sweet potatoes [I know they’re much more expensive than regular ones, but they are great when you want something different, best way to prepare them: make fries and bake them]
  9. Cacao powder [I love it more than carob powder for its chocolate flavor]
  10. Shredded coconut [great for oatmeal, pancakes or any dessert you wanna make]

Other things I buy on grocery shopping weekly or from time to time:

  1. Spinach, lettuce or rucola [eat your greens man!]
  2. Seasonal fruits [watermelon, berries, peaches, oranges, mandarines etc.]
  3. Seasonal veggies [carrots, broccoli, zucchini, tomatoes etc.]
  4. Tofu [when I want to make for example eggree pasta]
  5. Dark chocolate [especially for “these days” in a month]
  6. Pasta [of course eggfree, but most pastas in grocery shops are made without eggs, so don’t worry]
  7. Millet, couscous or any other of your choice
  8. Tomato paste [best for making a tomato sauce for your pasta]
  9. Fresh or dried dates [my favourite snack, because they taste like candy sweets]

There are of course many, many more products I buy, but these are the most important in my opinion and they’re a great beginning for everyone who wants to eat more plants :)

I was asked few times about how I make my potato fries which you can see from time to time on my IG profile, so here I come with a recipe for them :)

You will need:

5-6 potatoes (less or more depends on your appetite)

seasonings (herbes de provence, smoked paprika, sweet paprika, black pepper, chili)

  1. Peel the potatoes, wash them and cut into fries size.
  2. Boil them for 8 minutes and then let them cool down.
  3. In the meantime put on the oven for over 200 degrees.
  4. When it will heat up, spice the potatoes and put them in the oven.
  5. Bake them for 12 minutes, then stir and left them for next 8-10 minutes.

As you can see this recipe is very simple and potato fries turn out amazing-crispy, spicy and full of carbs <3

So today I want to show you what I eat when I’ve got period (and you need to eat more to help your hormones work well) and on my rest day when I don’t do any workout (to be honest I eat exactly the same food, because my body still needs fuel) :)

Today I had pancakes again for breakfast and it’s pretty funny, because when I’m preparing “what I eat in a day” post for you, I always crave pancakes :D

LUNCH (14.30)

I prepared Indian dahl with my friend from highcarbhannah’s recipe (you can find it on YouTube) and I ate it with basmati rice and rucola <3

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

DINNER (17.00)

Half of a really small watermelon

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

4 squares of dark chocolate

Two rice cakes with chocolate creme (one banana mixed with cacao) and raspberries.

And that was all I ate today, I also drank a lot of water, more than 2,5l :) Don’t forget to eat enough even when you don’t exercise and stay positive!

Your body is smarter than you think

So today was one of these days when I ate really a lot without any special reason. Of course, I could tell that my period is simply coming, which is true, but the REAL reason why I ate today more than usually was simple af.

How I said so many times before FOOD IS FUEL. And the answer to all your cravings and days when you eat more than normally is that you need energy. And food is the simplest way for your body to get it. Simpler and quicker than sleep.

The inspiration for writing this post was my example today. I met with my new friend, we ate burgers together (vegan of course) and when I came back home I did my workout. Then I ate half of a small watermelon and I thought it was all. But then I felt this. My body needed more energy. So I ate raw bar. And I was waiting, but I was still hungry. So I ate one banana with dried dates and coconut sugar. It still wasn’t enough. Then few squares of dark chocolate. Nothing. So I told myself “that’s enough”. And I did myself my favourite “eggless spread”, I ate it with two pieces of bread and I tell you one thing, it was delicious. Now I feel great. My stomach is still flat, but happy. And it’s not rumbling. What’s even better, I know that now I’ve got the energy to do my tomorrow’s workout and feel my best.

Trust your body and when you feel that you’re hungry, eat. This is that simple. Your body is much smarter than you think and when it needs food, it means you need more energy.

I also want to mention here about all this drama if it goes about late eating. All these people who say that you can’t eat after 18.00 or you’ll gain weight are so stupid. Like seriously, when you’re hungry, you should eat. Because this is what kids do-when they’re hungry, they eat, when full, then they stop eating. Life is simpler than you think.

The situation is different if you’re recovering from an eating disorder, because it all works in other way and sometimes you need to eat when you’re hungry or stop eating even when your brain says something else. It’s all complicated, but I think that people with eating disorders will understand me :)

Anyway, I just want to tell you how important listening to your body is. Trust it and stay calm. Life is simple. Now breathe and if you feel hungry, go and eat something delicious :)

What I eat in a day #2

So, here it is, my second post showing you what I ate in one day :) Every day I start my day with 0,6l of water and through the day I drink more than 2l of it.

The addiction is REAL. And I made myself pancakes again, because seriously they taste heavenly. The recipe for them you can find on my blog as well :)

And right after my breakfast I ate this bar. It’s made from only dates, peanuts and crunchy cereals, so it’s pretty natural and it actually tastes like peanut butter cliff bar :D It’s important to add that this is a polish product and I’m proud we have such a good vegan sweets in Poland :)

LUNCH (16.15)

So the break between breakfast and lunch was pretty big, because I wasn’t hungry at all, I did my workout, worked a little bit and when I ended doing everything it was actually 4 p.m. :D Anyway, for lunch I ate baked potatoes (the same what yesterday) with ketchup, hummus and yellow haricot.

DINNER (18.30)

And for dinner I ate what I love the most aka watermelon <3 (half of a small one)

And that’s all what I ate today, I also drank 2,5l of water :)

Eat enough

So, today I want to share with you my story from the day before yesterday. I was quite active that day, but I didn’t eat enough through day. I tried to make up for it in the evening and eat a little bit more than usual, but yesterday I realized it wasn’t enough at all.

I was weak, lifeless and I’ve got no energy at all to do anything. I was hungry almost all day long, but I was at work and I hadn’t got so much food with me, so I went back home angry, tired af and hungry. I ate big dinner, dried dates after it and chocolate. And then two bananas with coconut sugar. Did I feel like I overate? Not at all. Normally, I would feel awful after this amount of food and I would have a huge “food baby”. But yesterday my body just needed the energy. Energy from food. And that’s important, because for those of you who forgot-CALORIES=ENERGY.

And here is that moment when my story ends, but I’ve still got something important to tell you. The food you eat today is the energy you will use tomorrow. When you starve your body, you simply have no energy to live. And sooner or later, you will binge, because your body needs energy to keep you alive.

Some time ago, I wasn’t aware of it and I was treating my body in a terrible way. Honestly, I’m not shocked at all that it didn’t want to work for me and help me no more and I lost my period (aka the sign of health if it goes about woman’s body).

And this is also a problem of all these weight loss diets- you starve yourself, you have no energy to workout and then you get angry because you think you’re weak, lazy etc. And you start to hate yourself for not being “strong enough”. And this is how works that circle. For me it’s scary, because I also was there. Stuck in that circle of self hate and getting angry at myself. So stupid when I look at it now, but then it all seemed to be logical.

The moral from this story: EAT ENOUGH. FOOD IS FUEL. CALORIES ARE ENERGY. Your soul needs home to live so treat your body well :)
